Hope certainly lives up to her name. At 19 years of age, she is the youngest woman working with us. Her work for 31 Bits allows her to support her two young daughters, Mercy and Michelle. Hope's laughter is contagious and her heart is generous as she reaches out to her community to bring hope. Hope's entrepreneur spirit is demonstrated in her eye for detail; creating 31 Bits' beads that are symmetrical and follow a specific pattern, both resulting in her unique fashion design. She has also started a small shop out of her home with the capital that she has earned through 31 Bits. Hope continues to surprise us and we are so excited to see her grow in all areas.
Grandma Ketty is an unpredictable, energetic, 76 year young widow and mother of 11 children. She has lived through plenty of heartache from losing loved ones in death as well as abduction in war. Grandma Ketty has not allowed these tragedies to rob her of life. She has an unparalleled joy and zest. She energetically holds the spot of goalie for the local widow's soccer team and volunteers at an organization that helps abused children. 31 Bits has enabled her to send four local orphans to school with the money she earns. Grandma Ketty finds peace in "knowing God has brought a great change in life."
Margaret, a 44 year old, married, mother of 8 children, of which 5 are still alive, has wisdom beyond her years demonstrated through inner strength. Her selfless giving to her community is a response to her thankfulness of what Jesus has given her, new life in Him. She is the owner of a small shop and makes and sells passion juice that is a hit in the local bus park. 31 Bits is honored to have Margret work with us, her servant's heart and work ethic are highly admired.
Florence is authentic and honest. The 29 year old spitfire is married with 3 children. Her free time is spent with her children cooking. Florence and her husband own a small cassava garden, growing roots to feed their family. 31 Bits is grateful to have Florence's energy as a part of the organization. She wishes to tell everyone, "Greetings"!
Susan, a 30 year old single mother of four children, knows the cost of keeping her word. She once told her young twin boys, Opio and Ochen, that she would buy them a little toy truck when she was paid. On the night she received her first payment, she ran to town to buy the gift. When she returned home, the boys were asleep, yet she woke them up and presented the gift. They were delighted and fell back to sleep with the truck in their arms, too afraid that it would not be there in the morning. Susan loves to sing because "singing drives the worries away". She is continually learning and hopes that one day she will read. Susan is a valued employee of 31 Bits.
Molly's leadership abilities among the women are one of the driving forces behind the success of 31 Bits. She is respected by all and a mentor to most. She taught the women how to create the paper beads and spends time with street children teaching them crafts. The 47 year old contracted AIDS several years ago, of which she now mentors similar victims. Molly stays extremely busy with 31 Bits, helping children from abusive homes and serving as an elder with the local evangelical church planted by Rock Harbor in Orange County, California. Molly's leadership skills in 31 Bits are irreplaceable and of which we are extremely thankful for.
